Target identified which could open the door to personalized treatment for heart failure

An enzyme which cross-links collagen has been identified as a target for personalized treatment in heart failure. The enzyme, termed Lysyl oxidase-like 2, produces fibrosis of the cardiac muscle, which stimulates the development of heart failure when in excess.
