Check out this issue’s free to access editorial, in which Alinne Pereira de Castro & Octávio Luiz Franco (Universidade Católica Dom Bosco, Brazil) discuss the importance of exploiting natural products in the discovery of new antimicrobial peptides.

This issue features the first of a two-part review series by Herman Sintim (University of Maryland, USA) and co-workers, which will provide an insight into biofilm formation, new targets in addressing antibiotic resistance and novel antibiofilm agents. The first article in the series is titled ‘Biofilm formation mechanisms and targets for developing antibiofilm agents’ and is free to access here. The second article will appear in the next issue, so watch out for that!

Also featured are a well-received Research article by Fedora Grande (University of Calabria, Italy) and co-workers on selective GPER antagonists in breast cancer cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts, in addition to an excellent Review in which Christophe Antczak (Novartis) sheds light on the challenges and opportunities toward enabling phenotypic screening of complex and 3D cell models.
